Brunner 2019 Injury
Stephanie Brunner was the target of bad luck in 2019 when she received the news from medical staff about her torn ACL. The Austrian ski racer was training as usual when she suffered a knee injury. She was preparing for giant Slalom while training in Ushuaia, Argentina.
However, this ended her tournament there and then. She was then transported back to Austria to further investigate the extent of her injury. Later, an MRI examination determined an anterior ligament tear within her left knee.
ACL injury is considered one of the worst kinds of injuries a sportsperson could have. It is always better to operate in such a kind of injury. She was then operated on in Hochrum Clinic by Dr. Christian Fink. She gave a statement after her injury saying:
My first turns on snow in July felt really good, as if I had never been away. Even in Argentina, everything went according to plan, and my fitness, and knee played perfectly. All the more disappointing this diagnosis, but I cannot change it and take this challenge again.
Brunner’s ACL injury in 2019 makes it the third knee injury within less than 2 years. She first suffered her first ACL back in the 2018 Austrian National Championships. However, she had hoped that she would recover from this injury when she was again injured in January 2019 during the training period of the giant slalom which was being conducted in Val di Fassa.
