Is Danita Harris Still Married to Brad Pratt?

Fans have been asking, Is Danita Harris still married to Brad Pratt? The couple married in 2008, and there is no public information suggesting they have separated.

So, yes, Danita Harris is still married to Brad Pratt. Here are all the details about their iconic wedding from 2008.

A Grand Wedding in 2006

Danita Harris can truly boast about having one of the largest weddings in the city in 2006. Her June 10 wedding to Brad Pratt, a residential therapist at the Youth Development Center in Hudson, was so grand that they had to hold the ceremony at a church outside their own just to accommodate the roughly 600 guests.

Danita Harris, the WEWS-TV 5 morning and noon anchor, explains that her father-in-law is a bishop in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. In this tradition, church members invite everyone in their “church family” to their weddings. Following this custom, Danita and Brad extended the same invitation to members of Mega Church, the nondenominational congregation they attend in Cleveland.

Although many people watched Danita say “I do,” she had little involvement in planning her wedding. She revealed in an interview that It wasn’t that she was too busy. She just didn’t want to deal with the planning.

The only reason she didn’t go along with Brad’s idea of a destination wedding was because of her mother, Mattie Harris, president and CEO of Cleveland-based Industrial Transport. She said that:

“My mom has been waiting for this day. I did not want to take it away from her.”

Danita’s Detailed Choices: The Dress and Bridal Party

However, there were a few things that Danita chose and planned down to the smallest detail. One of the standout things Danita chose was her dress.

It was an ivory satin Demetrios Couture gown with a V-neck corseted bodice, crystal-beaded lace overlay, bell sleeves, a drop waist, A-line skirt, and chapel-length train, which she selected at Brides by Demetrios in Lyndhurst. The gown was customized by adding a crystal-beaded lace inlay to the end of the train and scalloped crystal-beaded lace to both the train and bell sleeves.

Additionally, the double veil was enhanced with silver embroidery and pearls along the fingertip veil, and tiny stardust-like crystals scattered across both the fingertip and cathedral veils.

Moreover, Danita chose deep-orange satin dresses for her six bridesmaids, including her 13-year-old stepdaughter-to-be, Kanecia Pratt, and ivory-satin dresses with deep orange trim for her two flower girls.

She selected these from the David’s Bridal website, opting for a variety of designs in the same color rather than choosing a single style. She said at the time:

“I’ve been in enough weddings where the style was not always complementary to everyone’s body shape.”

The 10 A.M. Ceremony and Spiritual Focus

Danita prioritized the 10 a.m. ceremony at Zion Pentecostal Church of Christ in Cleveland over her dress. She explained that the program and its spiritual significance were more important to her. Another standout feature of her wedding was a reading by four friends, who shared excerpts from greeting cards Danita and Brad had exchanged during their courtship.

The highlight of the ceremony was when Danita walked down the aisle to the song “I Knew This Day Would Come,” performed by Daniel Winans of the gospel-singing Winans family.

Winans had promised Danita years earlier, after they became friends while she worked at the BET network in Washington, D.C., that he would write and perform a song for her wedding. She recalled that moment saying:

“I had one of those interactive, crazy weddings, my family was cheering, ‘Yea, whoo, whoo, Danita! Whoo!’ ”

Danita’s mother handled the selection of flowers and managed the invitations for two events: a public reception with sheet cake and punch at a nearby church hall after the ceremony, and a 1 p.m. luncheon for close family and friends at LaCentre conference and banquet facility in Westlake.

Danita Harris explained that they couldn’t invite everyone to the private reception due to the cost. She said that:

“We couldn’t have everyone at our private reception because it would have been really expensive, but we wanted people to feel like they were still part of our day.”

A Reception to Remember at LaCentre

About 245 guests who attended the luncheon at LaCentre entered a ballroom adorned with round tables draped in deep-orange satin. Each table featured a central arrangement of ivory candles, and chairs were covered in white satin with a single orange chrysanthemum tucked into the back bow.

Guests enjoyed a plated meal of chicken breast and green beans while a pianist and acoustic guitarist played. They danced to a disc jockey’s tunes until 5 p.m. For dessert, a seven-tier yellow wedding cake, frosted in buttercream and decorated with edible pearls and deep-orange bows, was served.

Each tier was filled with either strawberries and cream or lemon curd. Talking about her wedding Danita said:

“There was no alcohol at my wedding except for a champagne toast.”

After the wedding ceremony, her parents also hosted a Hawaiian luau at their Strongsville home for out-of-town guests, featuring roasted pig and more music from a disc jockey.
